How the MTM Hand Torque Multiplier Works

The MTM uses internal gearing to multiply the input torque applied by a torque wrench.

Understanding Torque Multiplication Ratio

The torque multiplication ratio indicates how the multiplier increases the torque applied at its input.

The two MTM models use different ratios:

  • MTM-15: 6.5:1
  • MTM-27: 3.3:1

The MTM-15 therefore provides greater multiplication of the input torque, while the MTM-27 is designed to accept substantially higher input torque and produce a higher maximum output.

Reaction Devices

Setup & Operation

  1. Determine the required fastener torque.
  2. Select the MTM model with sufficient output capacity.
  3. Select a compatible torque wrench for the multiplier's input drive and required input torque.
  4. Determine the appropriate torque wrench setting for the desired output.
  5. Install the appropriate impact-rated socket on the output drive.
